Here’s a shot out of a cannon: What do you do when you run out of your favorite eye cream? This is a multiple choice question.
A. Panic!
B. Go online and find the best eye cream that will be shipped overnight
C. Relax and try a home remedy that has been known to work in the past
The answer is C. If you really care about treating the under-eye symptoms but do not have any eye cream left, there are other ways to treat these symptoms. Many of us have become accustomed to applying eye creams on a daily basis, much like we clean our faces and brush our teeth. It’s becoming normal in society. People know that there are many things we can do in our life to help us age better, and applying an eye cream is just one of those things that will help us avoid looking tired and feeling younger each time we use it.
But…..for those times when the eye cream is dry, there are answers, and I’ll lay out some of my favorite ones that have worked in the past right here in this anti aging blog post.
1. Apply chilled egg whites under the eyes for twenty minutes. Relax while the soothing, refreshing egg whites penetrate the skin and give you that tightening effect most often found in lifting eye serums. Egg whites can be a cool, relaxing sensation. I suggest you freeze them to make them as cool as possible.
2. Cucumber slices have the same effect. See the above post and mimic the application process.
3. Castor oil and coconut juice are two sticky applications you can apply to your under-eye area in substitution of an eye cream. They both have qualities of adding nutrients to the skin and although they can be messy, they have been proven to work.
I’ve also heard that vegetable juices are great for the under-eye area. I have to agree with this just because of the potential antioxidant value in vegetables in general. Carrot juice comes to mind. Get a blender and grind up several carrots, then drink the juice. This isn’t just a great thing for your skin, it’s also part of a healthy, balanced diet.
While we are on that wavelength, I’ll touch on another antioxidant: the acai berry. This has been touted as the #1 superfood in the world by none other than the famous Dr. Nicholas Perricone. The amazin acai berry is found in the deep region of the Amazon forest, and has the most spectacular antioxidant qualities known to man. While this is a rather new concept over in the USA, the acai berry has been researched by many, and the science backs up the claims on this ingredient. It is now found in mainstream foods, juices, and is even an ingredient in the top-rated eye cream, Elite Serum. If you visit your local supermarket, you are sure to see that companies like Dole, Minute Maid, and Sunkist are all starting to incorporate the acai berry into their products.
